Winner’s Kang Seung Yoon shared a warm military story involving BTS’s Jin on KBS 2TV’s Immortal Songs.
The July 11 episode of Immortal Songs will air as the Artist Kim Tae Won Special, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Boohwal, one of Korea’s legendary rock bands.
The episode will feature Kang Seung Yoon, Kim Shin Ui Band, Yuk Jung Wan Band, Lee Ye Ji, Lee Seung Hyub and Yoo Hwe Seung of N.Flying, and Jo Jazz.
Kang Seung Yoon is returning to Immortal Songs about three years after his last appearance before enlistment. He joked, “Before I enlisted, I won a ticket to the King of Kings match, but my enlistment notice came out too quickly, so I could not go. Then isn’t the ticket still valid?”
Kim Joon Hyun responded, “After coming back from the army, you have become much more smooth talking,” making the studio laugh.
Kang Seung Yoon also talked about Jin, saying, “Jin made a sweet offer, saying, ‘Let’s be assistant instructors together. I will tell you useful tips to be chosen as an assistant instructor.’ I trained hard with big dreams, but heaven did not help me, so in the end I could not become an assistant instructor.”
He then shared a touching memory from training camp. Kang Seung Yoon said, “I finished training camp in first place, and Jin passed by and gave me a box of chocolates, saying, ‘Aren’t you working too hard? Don’t suffer too much.’ At that time, trainees could not use the PX, so I became a hero in the barracks.”
The story drew envy from those around him, as Kang Seung Yoon recalled how Jin’s simple gift became a memorable moment during his military life.
Kang Seung Yoon also expressed his strong interest in Boohwal’s 40th anniversary special, saying he would like to sing one song as a guest vocalist on Boohwal’s new album. For the episode, he chose The Last Concert (Memory III) and is expected to show a powerful stage.
The Immortal Songs Kim Tae Won special airs on July 11 at 6 p.m. KST.
