NCT’s Doyoung has made a meaningful donation to support mental health care and suicide prevention efforts.
The Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention announced that Doyoung donated 100 million won as a designated donation.
The funds will be used to help South Korean soldiers facing crisis situations, as well as children and teenagers who lost family members to suicide.
Doyoung is currently taking part as a life ambassador for the “Thousand Life Keeper Project”, a national suicide prevention campaign that aims to reduce suicide deaths by 1,000 people in 2026.
According to the foundation, the donation was made because Doyoung wanted to help soldiers who serve the country and young people who are dealing with the pain of sudden loss.
The foundation plans to work with related organizations to make sure the support is used in practical and effective ways.
Doyoung shared a heartfelt message, saying, “One thing I often told fans is, ‘Tomorrow will definitely be happier than today.’ There are times when a day feels a little heavy and hard, but I believe that in the end, tomorrow will move one step closer to a warmer and happier direction than today”.
He added, “I hope my support is delivered through this donation, and I hope it becomes strength that helps everyone find courage.”
Jung Yoon Soon, chairman of the Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention, thanked Doyoung and said his donation will become a precious “link of life” that helps reconnect people in despair with society. She also promised that the foundation will do its best so the donation reaches those who need it most.
Meanwhile, Doyoung enlisted as an active duty soldier in the Army on December 8 last year.
