Stray Kids makes history as first overseas male artist to headline Tokyo National Stadium

Stray Kids has reached another major milestone in Japan, becoming the first overseas male artist to hold a solo concert at Tokyo National Stadium.

The JYP Entertainment group is performing at the landmark venue for two days beginning August 29 as part of their world tour, RUN IT.

Tokyo National Stadium can accommodate up to around 80,000 people for concerts and is considered one of Japan’s most prestigious performance venues. Stray Kids’ shows mark the first time an overseas male artist has held a standalone concert there.

Earlier in April, fellow JYP Entertainment group TWICE became the first overseas artist overall to stage a solo concert at the stadium.

Stray Kids is also expanding its presence across Japan through RUN IT. Including Tokyo, the group is scheduled to hold seven concerts across cities including Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka, with approximately 370,000 fans expected to attend.

The stadium milestone comes as Stray Kids continues to see strong international album results. Their recently released mini album THIS & THAT earned 369,000 equivalent album units in the United States during its first week and gave the group its ninth No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

With the Tokyo National Stadium concerts, Stray Kids adds another major achievement to its growing global touring record while further strengthening its popularity in Japan.
