Netflix’s Korean film The Great Flood is continuing its strong global performance, securing the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non English Films list for two consecutive weeks.

Despite its impressive rankings and viewership, the film has also become a topic of heated discussion due to mixed reactions from viewers.

According to Netflix’s official data site Tudum, The Great Flood recorded 33.1 million views in its second week, surpassing its first week figure of 27.9 million views.

With this result, the film ranked No. 1 in 53 countries, including South Korea, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, France, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. It also entered the Top 10 list in 92 countries, showing its wide global reach.

These numbers place The Great Flood among Netflix’s most successful year end releases and mark it as one of the strongest performing Korean original films on the platform.

The film’s performance also surpassed the previous record set by Badland Hunters, starring Ma Dong Seok, setting a new benchmark for Korean Netflix films.

Industry watchers point out that the film benefited from its familiar disaster genre and favorable release timing.

Disaster films are known to attract viewers across different regions, and during the year end season, there were relatively few major non English blockbuster films competing globally.

This helped The Great Flood gain quick attention and spread rapidly through word of mouth on the platform.

While the film’s high rankings clearly show strong viewer interest, reactions to the movie itself have been sharply divided.

Some viewers and critics praised its large scale production and visuals, while others expressed disappointment, leading to ongoing debates online.

This contrast has highlighted how strong global viewership does not always translate into unified audience approval.

Even so, The Great Flood continues to maintain its position at the top of Netflix’s global charts, proving its strong pull among international viewers.

As discussions around the film continue, its record breaking rankings and viewership remain its most notable achievements, solidifying its place as one of Netflix’s biggest non English film hits of the season.
