Fans of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call are buzzing with excitement after reports claimed that the hit Netflix medical drama would be producing both season 2 and season 3 at the same time.
On September 23, Korean media reported that the drama had locked in plans for simultaneous production, with filming set to begin next summer.
However, Netflix quickly clarified the situation, stating, “The production of follow-up seasons for ‘The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call’ is under review, but nothing has been confirmed yet.”
The series, which premiered in January, follows genius surgeon Baek Kang Hyuk (played by Ju Ji Hoon), who once worked on battlefields and later joins a struggling trauma team to revive it.
The show became a massive success, topping Netflix’s Global Non-English TV category just two weeks after its release.
Its impact also carried over to major award shows. At the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, Ju Ji Hoon took home Best Actor in the TV category.
At the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards, Chu Young Woo received the Rookie Award, Ju Ji Hoon once again won Best Actor, and the drama earned Best Drama—achieving a triple crown. It also secured Best K-Drama at the 20th Seoul International Drama Awards.
Adding to the anticipation, creator Lee Nak Joon had previously hinted, “I wrote the story with season 2 and season 3 in mind,” fueling fans’ hopes for more seasons to come.
