• Shin Ye Eun Reflects on Intense Training, Bold Steps in Acting, and Learning from Kim Tae Ri in New Interview

Actress Shin Ye Eun recently shared her thoughts on working with Kim Tae Ri and reflected on her role in Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born in a new feature with Cosmopolitan’s November issue.

In the tvN drama Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born, Shin Ye Eun plays Heo Yeong Seo, a rival in the Maeran Theater Troupe to Kim Tae Ri's character, Jeongnyeon.

In her photoshoot, Shin Ye Eun embodied themes of Korean tradition, blending elegance with a refined look that captivated the staff on set.

Shin Ye Eun opened up about her character, saying, “I’m a lot like Yeong Seo in how methodical and determined I am.” Reflecting on her school years, she shared how competitive her time at Anyang Arts High School was, explaining, “We were constantly competing for roles and rankings. It wasn’t something I found hard; I just pushed forward with a strong mindset.”

She credits her friend and co-star Woo Da Bi for reminding her of her younger self, which helped her feel connected to Yeong Seo’s ambition.

To embody her character's male roles in the drama, Shin Ye Eun focused on changing her body language and voice. “When I talked with (Kim) Tae Ri, we agreed acting is all about ‘energy.’ I realized if I was confident, I could come across as masculine even without the costume,” she said, sharing that she practiced walking with a broad stance and even wore baggy clothes to fully adapt.

Shin Ye Eun also praised Kim Tae Ri, saying, “I can see why she’s so successful, and I truly respect her. Sometimes, I find myself wondering, ‘How would she approach this?’” She expressed gratitude for their close bond and mutual support throughout filming.

As she looks forward to her next steps, Shin Ye Eun reflected on her growth as an actress. She explained, “The best actors are often the ones just starting because they have no fear. I’ve moved past that stage, but I still strive to bring my own style to my roles.”

With Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born, she hopes her dedication will resonate with viewers as they see her full performance come to life.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
