Actor Kim Soo Hyun has requested the removal of 45 YouTube videos uploaded by the channel Garo Sero Research Institute, also known as HoverLab. However, a South Korean court has asked his legal team to provide more specific reasons for removing the content.

According to reports, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 51 held a hearing regarding Kim Soo Hyun's application against Kim Se Ui, the head of the YouTube channel.

Kim Soo Hyun's legal team is seeking the removal of 45 videos, claiming they contain material that damages the actor's reputation. The application also concerns restrictions on publishing the disputed content.

The request was reportedly filed in September and targets videos uploaded by the channel.

However, Kim Se Ui's side opposed the request, arguing that the allegedly false information had not been sufficiently established as untrue.

His representatives also maintained that the criminal proceedings remain contested and argued that removing entire videos would be an overly broad measure.

During the hearing, the court asked Kim Soo Hyun's side to identify the specific portions of the videos they believe should be removed and explain why.

The court noted that some of the videos appeared to contain advertisements and discussions about other topics unrelated to the actor.

The judges stated, "The videos requested for deletion appear to contain not only content related to Kim Soo Hyun but also advertisements and other issues. It is necessary to clearly identify which specific parts are problematic."

The court also questioned whether the fact that Kim Se Ui had been detained and indicted was enough to conclude that the videos contained clearly false information.

The judges further explained, "To delete an entire video, special circumstances that justify such action must be established."

They added that Kim Soo Hyun's legal team needed to clarify both the content being challenged and the reasons for requesting its removal.

The legal dispute comes amid disagreements over videos published about the actor, with both sides maintaining different positions regarding the disputed claims.

The court's request for clarification does not amount to a final ruling on whether the videos should be removed or whether their contents are true or false.

For now, attention is on how Kim Soo Hyun's legal representatives will respond to the court's instructions and whether they will narrow their request to specific portions of the 45 videos.
