AKMU's Lee Su Hyun has opened up about her 30 kg weight loss, explaining that her main goal was to become healthier rather than simply change her appearance.
On November 3, Lee Su Hyun uploaded a video titled Healthy Diet: Please Eat Like This (Meal Plan Edition) to her official YouTube channel, where she shared her eating habits and discussed her approach to weight management.
During the video, Lee Su Hyun revealed that losing 30 kg took her more than two years, emphasizing that she did not achieve the results through extreme dieting.
She explained, "You might think a meal plan that helped me lose 30 kg would be really strict, but doesn't it seem more manageable than expected?"
She continued, "That's because I didn't lose the weight quickly. It took me more than two years to lose 30 kg. I didn't do it by eating only vegetables. I also exercised a lot."
Lee Su Hyun acknowledged that there were times when she followed less healthy eating habits, particularly when preparing for a comeback. However, she stressed that those periods did not represent her overall approach.
The AKMU member made it clear that improving her health was always the priority.
She said, "For my coach, my brother, and me, the goal was to become healthier. If my diet or exercise wasn't helping me become healthier, then I didn't need it at all."
Lee Su Hyun also shared simple meals she frequently prepared during her weight loss journey, including shabu-shabu and kimchi fried rice.
She explained that eating satisfying, balanced meals can still be part of a weight management plan, although results take time.
“Can you still lose weight while eating like this? Yes, you can. But you won't lose 30 kg in three months, and losing weight that quickly isn't good for your body,” she said.
She then encouraged viewers to focus on taking care of themselves over the long term rather than expecting immediate results.
“I hope you approach your diet and exercise with the mindset of taking care of your body over a long period of time and put effort into improving your health,” she added.
Lee Su Hyun's weight loss has previously attracted public attention, but her latest video focused on the importance of building sustainable habits rather than pursuing rapid physical changes.
Through her personal experience, the AKMU singer emphasized that her 30 kg weight loss was part of a longer journey toward better health, not simply a goal to look different.
