Actor Yoo Yeon Seok has revealed that becoming a licensed pilot is one of his longtime dreams, sharing that he once seriously considered taking a year off from acting to pursue it.
On October 30, Yoo Yeon Seok appeared on Jo Jung Suk's YouTube channel, Channel Jo Jung Suk, where the two actors discussed their hobbies and personal interests.
During their conversation, Yoo Yeon Seok shared that he has recently stopped camping and is trying to focus on the hobbies he already has rather than picking up new ones.
"I'm actually trying not to expand my hobbies anymore. I want to get better at the ones I already have," he explained.
Jo Jung Suk jokingly responded, "That's good news."
However, Yoo Yeon Seok surprised him by revealing that there is still something he wants to accomplish.
"There's something I still want to do. Getting a pilot's license has always been a dream of mine," he said.
The actor explained that after turning 40, he had considered taking a one-year break from work to study abroad and learn how to fly.
"I thought about taking a year off for myself, going abroad for about a year to study a language, and getting a license to fly a small aircraft or airplane," he shared.
Yoo Yeon Seok revealed that he had already researched flight schools and possible training locations.
"I looked into everything. There's a well-known aviation school south of Irvine in the United States," he said.
Hearing his plans, the production team suggested that Yoo Yeon Seok and Jo Jung Suk could even make a variety show about learning to become pilots.
Jo Jung Suk, who previously played an airline pilot in the film Pilot, shared that he had experienced flight simulation training while preparing for his role.
"There was an actual simulator. I practiced using a flight simulator before we started filming," he explained.
Curious about Yoo Yeon Seok's interest, Jo Jung Suk asked, "Is flying in the sky your dream?"
Yoo Yeon Seok explained that his interest comes from his love of operating vehicles and experiencing different forms of transportation.
"I served as a military driver, and I've always enjoyed driving. I've also tried flying drones. But in the end, isn't actually flying yourself the ultimate dream?" he said.
Although Yoo Yeon Seok has not announced any definite plans to begin flight training, he made it clear that earning a pilot's license remains a personal goal he hopes to achieve someday.
His revelation also showed another side of the actor, who is known for having a wide range of hobbies and interests outside his acting career.
