Director Lee Chang Dong's award-winning Korean film Possible Love is preparing for its global Netflix release on November 6, bringing the highly anticipated movie to viewers in approximately 190 countries as it continues its international awards campaign.

The film, starring Jeon Do Yeon, Sul Kyung Gu, Zo In Sung, and Cho Yeo Jeong, has already gained recognition at major international film festivals, making its upcoming streaming release another important step in reaching audiences worldwide.

Possible Love marks Lee Chang Dong's first movie in eight years since Burning in 2018. It follows two married couples from different backgrounds whose lives become connected through a documentary project, bringing hidden emotions and personal struggles to the surface.

Ahead of its Netflix debut, the film received the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, becoming the first Korean film to win the honor. It also received the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Award.

The international recognition continued at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Lee Chang Dong became the first Korean director to receive the TIFF Ebert Director Award.

More recently, Possible Love secured three nominations at the 36th Gotham Awards, including Best International Feature, Best Original Screenplay, and Outstanding Lead Performance for Jeon Do Yeon.

The film has also been selected as South Korea's official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards, scheduled for March 2027.

According to industry reports, Netflix is preparing an awards campaign that could extend beyond the international feature category to major Oscar categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

Before its streaming release, Possible Love opened in South Korean theaters on September 23, followed by selected international theatrical releases in October.

The Korean theatrical run attracted approximately 230,000 moviegoers, while its opening holiday weekend recorded a seat occupancy rate approaching 50%.

Interest in the film has also been reflected in streaming audience surveys. According to Consumer Insight's fourth-week October 2026 report, Possible Love ranked second among surveyed Korean original streaming titles for viewing intention, recording 19%.

With its Venice victory, Gotham Awards nominations, and official Oscar submission status, Possible Love has already built considerable international recognition before its Netflix release.

Its November 6 launch across approximately 190 countries will now give a much wider audience the opportunity to watch Lee Chang Dong's latest film, as attention turns to whether its international success can continue through the upcoming Academy Awards season.
