TWICE's Jihyo is beginning a new chapter in her career after ending her 21-year relationship with JYP Entertainment and establishing her own agency, EMITHAUS. However, the singer has made it clear that her decision does not mean she is leaving TWICE.
On October 21, Jihyo officially announced the launch of EMITHAUS through her social media accounts, sharing a handwritten letter explaining her decision to become independent and pursue new opportunities as an artist.
The move marks a major milestone for Jihyo, who has been associated with JYP Entertainment for 21 years, including her years as a trainee and her career as the leader of TWICE.
In her letter, Jihyo explained that becoming independent was not about leaving her past behind but about choosing how she wants to move forward.
“For me, independence is less about reaching a conclusion about the years that have passed and more about deciding how I want to live the years ahead,” she wrote.
She continued, “As the first step, I established EMITHAUS. Through this company, I want to freely explore even the possibilities within myself that I have not yet discovered.”
EMITHAUS is a newly established entertainment company that aims to support artistic individuality and creative opportunities through music and various forms of content.
The company's name is inspired by the word “emit,” meaning to release or express something, reflecting Jihyo's goal of exploring new creative directions and developing her potential as an artist.
Despite her departure from JYP Entertainment for her independent career, Jihyo will continue promoting as a member of TWICE while managing her solo activities through EMITHAUS.
She also expressed her continued affection and gratitude toward her fellow TWICE members and the group's fans, known as ONCE, emphasizing that this new beginning does not represent a farewell to the group.
For now, EMITHAUS will focus on supporting Jihyo's solo music career. The company also plans to expand its activities in the future by discovering and signing additional artists and developing projects across music and entertainment content.
Jihyo's decision signals a new direction in her career, allowing her to pursue greater independence as a solo artist while maintaining her commitment to TWICE and its fans.
