South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has reportedly requested that YouTube shut down the Garo Sero Research Institute (Gaseyeon) channel and remove 30 videos about him, marking another development in the ongoing legal dispute surrounding allegations made against the actor.

According to a report by JoongAng Ilbo on October 20, Kim Soo Hyun's representatives submitted a request to YouTube on October 6, asking the platform to close the channel over alleged violations of its harassment and cyberbullying policies.

The request follows months of controversy involving claims shared by the YouTube channel about Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress Kim Sae Ron.

In addition to seeking the channel's closure, Kim Soo Hyun's representatives reportedly requested the removal of 30 videos concerning the actor.

The actor's legal team argues that the videos contain defamatory information and have contributed to further harm to his reputation.

Kim Soo Hyun's legal representative, attorney Go Sang Rok of Phil Law Firm, addressed the reason behind the request.

He claimed that an investigation had identified suspected defamation and intimidation involving allegedly false evidence, including AI-manipulated audio recordings, used against Kim Soo Hyun.

Go Sang Rok also called for the channel to be shut down as soon as possible to prevent further harm.

These statements reflect the position of Kim Soo Hyun's legal representatives and should not be treated as a final court determination regarding all disputed allegations.

The latest action comes as Gaseyeon operator Kim Se Ui faces criminal proceedings over allegations of spreading false information and defaming Kim Soo Hyun.

Kim Se Ui was reportedly indicted while in custody in June 2026 over content published on the channel between March and December 2025.

The controversy began after the channel raised allegations that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor. Kim Soo Hyun has denied the allegations, and police reportedly assessed the disputed underage dating claim as false.

The case remains a sensitive legal matter, and the criminal charges against the channel's operator should not be treated as proof of guilt before a final court ruling.

Kim Soo Hyun's representatives are now seeking action beyond individual video removals, arguing that closing the channel is necessary to prevent the continued spread of allegedly harmful content.

As of the October 20 reports, YouTube had not been reported to have approved the request to close Gaseyeon or remove all 30 videos.

The latest development highlights Kim Soo Hyun's continuing legal efforts to address content about him online, with the platform's response and ongoing court proceedings remaining key issues in the dispute.
