RESCENE’s Minami is ready to move on from her viral “Yaho” catchphrase after revealing just how often she has been asked to repeat it.
Minami appeared on the September 16 episode of MBC’s *Radio Star*, where she talked about the memes and catchphrases that have helped her gain attention.
Speaking about “Yaho,” Minami revealed, *“Whenever I appear on a show, people ask me to say it a lot. I think I say it at least 30 times a day.”*
She explained that “Yaho” originally comes from a casual Japanese greeting used between people who are close. The phrase later became strongly associated with Minami as her popularity grew.
According to Minami, even major Korean celebrities have joined in on the trend.
*“BTS sunbaenims and actors have done it too. G-Dragon sunbaenim also said ‘Yaho’ when taking a group photo at the end of his concert,”* she shared.
Minami also revealed that some of her Japanese friends were surprised by her viral image and questioned why she had suddenly adopted a gyaru inspired concept.
She recalled them asking, *“You said you were going to audition and become a K-pop idol, so why are you suddenly doing gyaru? Have you gone crazy?”*
Minami jokingly explained that she felt she needed to embrace the “Yaho” trend to stand out.
However, after repeating the catchphrase countless times, Minami said she is now ready to “graduate” from the meme.
*“I feel like I’ve done ‘Yaho’ enough, so I thought I should pour everything into it one last time here,”* she said.
She clarified that she would still say it when people specifically ask her to, but added, *“As for me doing it first, today feels like the last time.”*
Minami then joined the other *Radio Star* cast members for one final “Yaho,” marking a playful farewell to the viral catchphrase that became closely linked to her rising popularity.
