Kim Yoo Jung opened up about an emotional moment from her younger years, revealing that she cried because she was afraid of becoming an adult.
During the September 16 premiere of KBS 2TV's Love in the Moonlight, Drawn Again, Kim Yoo Jung reunited with her Love in the Moonlight co-stars Park Bo Gum, Jinyoung, Chae Soo Bin, and Kwak Dong Yeon for an overnight trip to Hongcheon.
While looking back on memories from the original drama, which Kim Yoo Jung filmed when she was 17, Park Bo Gum asked whether she felt different when she reached 20 under the Korean age system used at the time.
Kim Yoo Jung recalled attending the 2017 KBS Drama Awards with Park Bo Gum on December 31. She explained that midnight arrived while she was waiting backstage, marking the start of the year in which she became 20 in Korean age.
She shared, “That was the day I became 20. It passed midnight while I was in the waiting room on December 31.”
After the awards ceremony, she went to Itaewon with her mother and older sister for a drink. However, instead of celebrating the milestone, she unexpectedly became emotional.
“I cried because I didn't want to turn 20,” Kim Yoo Jung revealed.
Kwak Dong Yeon reacted with surprise, saying, “Really? I couldn't wait to become an adult.”
Kim Yoo Jung then explained the reason behind her tears, simply admitting, “I was a little scared of becoming an adult.”
The confession offered a personal look at how Kim Yoo Jung experienced the transition into adulthood after spending much of her childhood and teenage years working as an actress.
