BLACKPINK member Jennie is facing mixed reactions following her collaboration with Adidas, as some fans have raised concerns over the brand’s recent controversy.
The Adidas Originals by JENNIE collection was released worldwide on September 1, marking Jennie’s first project with the brand as a co designer after years of participating in Adidas campaigns.
Jennie previously described the collection as a project she had been preparing for about a year, calling it a “dream collaboration.”
The launch received strong interest, with Adidas holding pop up events in China and the collection reportedly setting sales records at one store on its release day.
However, the collaboration later became connected to criticism surrounding Adidas’ campaign featuring an amputee athlete who previously served in the Israeli military.
The campaign was created to promote Adidas’ “Single Shoe” service, which allows customers who need only one shoe to purchase a single pair.
Following the campaign, some pro Palestinian activists and online users criticized Adidas and called for a boycott of the brand.
Some fans also asked Jennie to reconsider her partnership, while comments such as “Boycott” and “Free Palestine” appeared on her social media posts related to Adidas.
Adidas later released an apology, stating that the campaign image had caused concern and strong reactions.
The company said, “There was never any intention to cause offense,” and added that it takes the feedback seriously while continuing to focus on inclusion and accessibility in sports.
Jennie’s collaboration continues to receive attention as fans and online communities share different opinions about the partnership and the ongoing discussion surrounding Adidas.
