Singer Eric Nam has opened up about painful experiences involving betrayal, unpaid money, and difficult personal relationships, revealing that he is now more cautious about trusting and meeting new people.

On October 21, Eric Nam appeared on the YouTube channel YouTube Ha Ji Young, where he spoke about his personal struggles while discussing his fourth full-length album, released on October 16.

During the conversation, the singer revealed that he had experienced betrayal and financial losses involving people he encountered throughout his life and career.

Eric Nam shared, "I've been betrayed and had money taken from me. If I count the money I haven't received, it's more than 100 million won. There are unpaid amounts in the hundreds of millions of won from different places."

His comments drew attention as he explained that these experiences had affected the way he approaches relationships.

When host Ha Ji Young asked whether he had tried contacting the people who owed him money, Eric Nam explained that he had no desire to reconnect with them.

He said, "I don't want to contact those people. They're people I'm afraid of."

The singer also revealed that he had encountered individuals whose behavior made him uncomfortable, including people who became overly attached to him.

According to Eric Nam, some of these experiences were emotionally exhausting and left him questioning the intentions of the people around him.

He admitted that repeatedly dealing with difficult relationships had gradually changed his personality and made him more guarded.

Eric Nam explained, "There have been quite a few people like that in my life, so I've become very afraid of meeting people."

He continued, "I ended up seeing people less often. Even when I meet someone new, I tend to just say, 'Oh, okay,' and move on. At some point, I became much more defensive and even more introverted."

The singer also connected these experiences to the inspiration behind his new song Psycho.

Although the song primarily explores romantic obsession and questions about love, Eric Nam explained that his experiences with complicated relationships also influenced his thoughts while writing it.

He described the song as imagining a situation where someone feels deeply attached to another person but never acts on those feelings, leaving them wondering whether what they experienced was really love.

Meanwhile, Eric Nam briefly addressed rumors that he had retired from the entertainment industry after spending less time appearing on Korean television.

He dismissed the speculation as a misunderstanding, explaining that he had remained busy with world tour activities and filming four movies.

Rather than stepping away from entertainment, the singer has continued working on music and acting projects.

While Eric Nam's comments about betrayal and unpaid money have attracted attention, he did not publicly identify the individuals involved or provide further details about the financial disputes.

His latest interview offered a personal look at how difficult experiences with trust and relationships have shaped his life, with the singer admitting that he has become more protective of himself when meeting new people.
