Kim Ji Hoon reveals why he often wears his own clothes in dramas instead of sponsored outfits

Actor Kim Ji Hoon has revealed that many of the clothes he wears in dramas and films actually come from his own closet.

Kim Ji Hoon shared the story during a September 2 appearance on the YouTube channel Yoo In Radio, where he talked about his spending habits and how fashion has become part of his acting process.

When asked what he spends the most money on, Kim Ji Hoon answered that clothing has always been his biggest expense.

He said, “Whether recently or in the past, it has always been clothes. I don’t really drink, so I spend most of my money on fashion.”

Kim Ji Hoon then explained that buying his own clothes also helps him prepare for acting projects.

He said, “When you do a drama or movie, you need clothes for the character. It can be hard to suddenly find the right clothes for a project, so I keep buying things in advance.”

He added that most of the outfits he wore in Now, Infidelity Is Not the Problem were his own.

“I wear them in my private life and also in my projects, so I buy them for both reasons. I also post OOTDs on social media,” he explained.

Kim Ji Hoon is currently filming another drama, and he said he has been personally collecting clothes that match his character’s style.

According to the actor, the new role uses a mix of Americana-inspired casual fashion and workwear, which makes sponsored clothing less suitable for the look he wants.

He explained, “If you use sponsored clothes, it is difficult to create that vintage feeling because you have to act in brand-new clothes.”

Kim Ji Hoon said his view on costumes changed as he gained more acting experience.

“When I was younger, I did it that way, but as I got older, wearing someone else’s clothes while acting started to make the character feel too fake to me,” he said.

Because of that, he now works closely with his stylist to search for and purchase clothes that feel more natural for each character.

For his current project, Kim Ji Hoon plays a lawyer who grew up as an orphan and lives in a camper van. He said the character does not need expensive or polished clothing, but rather outfits that look lived-in while still feeling stylish and masculine.

For Kim Ji Hoon, buying his own wardrobe is not simply a fashion habit. He sees the clothes as another way to make his characters feel more believable on screen.
