Former Apink member Son Naeun has opened up about wanting the public to see a different side of her after years of being known mainly through her idol image.
On July 15, the actress appeared on Ha Ji Young’s YouTube channel and reflected on how her thoughts have changed since her early days in the entertainment industry.
Son Naeun admitted that she was very careful during interviews in the past because she was not confident about speaking openly.
“In the past, I did not have many opportunities, and I was not good at speaking, so I was careful about everything,” she said.
She explained that getting older helped her become more willing to show her real personality.
“My thoughts changed a lot as I became older,” Son Naeun shared. “I wanted people to know what kind of person I really am.”
The actress also said that many people still view her through a fixed image, even though she has been active for many years.
“Many people only see me through a certain image,” she said. “That is why opportunities like this interview are very valuable to me”.
Her comments are receiving attention amid renewed online discussion about her relationship with the Apink members. Son Naeun left the group in 2022 and was not seen at Yoon Bomi’s private wedding to producer Rado on May 16.
Her absence, along with reports that she did not attend Oh Ha Young’s birthday gathering last year, led some online users to raise conflict rumors again. However, no disagreement between Son Naeun and the members has been officially confirmed.
When similar speculation appeared after she left Apink, Son Naeun asked fans to continue supporting the group, saying, “Please give them lots of love and support the members”.
Meanwhile, Son Naeun is currently starring as Jung Sang Ah in SBS’s “Agent Kim Reactivated”. The drama surpassed a 20 percent rating after four episodes and later recorded a personal best of 22.3 percent, according to Nielsen Korea.
