GOT7's Jay B has opened up about his group's contribution to JYP Entertainment, revealing that he feels their financial achievements during their time at the agency were not widely recognized.

On October 27, Jay B held a roundtable interview at a café in Hapjeong, Seoul, ahead of the release of his third single, Chptr. 1.

During the interview, the singer reflected on GOT7's years under JYP Entertainment and shared his thoughts about the group's role in helping the company grow.

When asked how much GOT7 contributed to JYP's development, Jay B responded with a playful joke.

He said, "Didn't we at least build the doors of the JYP building? I think we probably covered everything from the basement up to the third floor."

He then added more seriously, "GOT7 actually generated more revenue than people might think, but it's a little disappointing that this isn't widely known."

His comments reflected his pride in GOT7's achievements during the group's time at JYP Entertainment, where they debuted in 2014 and remained until all seven members left the agency in 2021.

Despite expressing disappointment over the lack of recognition, Jay B did not criticize the company's management or suggest that GOT7's contributions had been deliberately overlooked.

He also shared a positive interaction with JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin Young, whom he met for a meal before releasing his new music.

Jay B admitted that he was initially nervous about showing Park Jin Young his upcoming single.

"Before this single came out, I had a meal with Jinyoung hyung. I was honestly worried he might scold me, so I wasn't planning to let him hear the new song. But I gathered my courage and played it for him, and he really liked it," he recalled.

He explained that Park Jin Young had praised his music before, but this time, his reaction was different.

"He's told me my songs were good before, but this was the first time he asked, 'Do you have a choreography video for this too?' When I showed him, he said, 'This is definitely good.' That gave me confidence."

Jay B added that he had expected the song to match Park Jin Young's musical taste.

While discussing younger artists, Jay B also praised boy group 82MAJOR, saying their performances had caught his attention.

"I think 82MAJOR is really good. They're talented. Of course, there are many great artists, but they stood out to me," he shared.

Meanwhile, Jay B continues to maintain a close friendship with his GOT7 bandmate and actor Park Jin Young.

He revealed that Park Jin Young contacted him after seeing the teaser for his new release and jokingly asked whether he had lost more weight.

Jay B recalled, "He asked, 'You look cool. Did you lose more weight?' I told him, 'I'm maintaining it.'"

The singer's third single, Chptr. 1, is scheduled for release on October 27 at 6 PM KST.

With his latest comeback, Jay B is continuing his solo career while looking back proudly on GOT7's achievements and the group's contribution to JYP Entertainment.
