Stray Kids’ new digital single “RUN IT” has become a topic of discussion after some fans noticed similarities between its music video and The Boyz’s 2024 music video “TRIGGER”.
The main point of the debate is that both music videos share several visual elements. Fans pointed out the use of an abandoned building style location, black and white tones, masked dancers, circular formations around the members, and brush style markings.
The most discussed scene is the ink performance, where both videos show a member using ink as part of the choreography and visual concept.
However, the situation is being viewed differently from a normal plagiarism claim because both music videos were directed by the same director, Son Seung Hee, also known as SAMSON, from the production company Highqualityfish.
Because of this, some believe the issue is closer to “self copying” or repeated creative style rather than plagiarism.
There are also clear differences between the two videos. The Boyz’s “TRIGGER” is described as having a dystopian revolution theme, while Stray Kids’ “RUN IT” focuses more on powerful energy and a battlefield like setting.
The repeated circle imagery in “RUN IT” also appears to be used as part of the video’s message about energy continuing without an endpoint.
An official statement is considered unlikely, since both works were made by the same creative team. Still, the debate shows why fans care strongly about each group’s visual identity.
In K-pop, concepts and music videos are not just promotion tools. They are also part of how fans connect with an artist’s image and story.
