Lim Ji Yeon shared her honest thoughts ahead of the finale of SBS’s Friday Saturday drama “My Royal Nemesis”.
On the June 15 broadcast of SBS’s “Nightline”, Lim Ji Yeon appeared as a guest and expressed her gratitude for the love the drama has received from viewers.
She said, “The drama is now nearing its end, and I am so thankful that the work we filmed with great effort seems to be receiving a lot of love from viewers”.
She added that she has been spending happy days and feels proud because the staff members who worked hard on set are also likely satisfied with the final result.
Lim Ji Yeon also talked about taking on comedy for the first time through “My Royal Nemesis”. She explained, “When you work as an actor, there comes a time when you want to try a new genre”.
She added that at the time, she strongly wanted to become an actor who could make people laugh, and that was when she met the drama.
The actress then praised her chemistry with Heo Nam Jun, who plays Cha Se Gye. Lim Ji Yeon said, “I really thought it was a relief that Heo Nam Jun took on the role of Cha Se Gye.” She explained that her character Seo Ri shines more because Se Gye exists.
She continued, “Even when things were difficult and tiring on set, he always felt like someone who stayed firmly by my side.” She added that Heo Nam Jun gave her a lot of strength both as an actor and as a person.
Now in her 15th year as an actress, Lim Ji Yeon described acting as a “love hate relationship.” She said, “I love acting so much, but sometimes I also hate it”.
She explained that acting gives her joy, confidence, and a sense of purpose, but also brings frustration and difficult moments.
Still, Lim Ji Yeon made it clear that acting remains deeply important to her. She said, “Even so, I think I am still one sidedly in love with acting,” adding that it has become something she cannot separate from herself and one of the biggest reasons she lives.
As for the final episodes of “My Royal Nemesis,” Lim Ji Yeon carefully teased that the story is not over yet. She said, “There are still other conflicts and crises left for Seo Ri and Se Gye”.
She added, “Only 2 episodes remain, but full stories are waiting, so I hope you will give it a lot of interest until the end.”
When asked what kind of actress she wants to be remembered as, Lim Ji Yeon said she once felt pressure to always show something new. However, she now hopes to become an actress viewers can trust.
She shared, “The best praise for me is being called an actor people can trust and watch. Even if it is a little slow, my goal is to become an actor who can steadily give trust”.
