BTS is set to take the stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in a major history-making moment.
On May 14, FIFA and Global Citizen announced that BTS has been selected as a headliner for the halftime show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. The final will take place on July 19, local time, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA.
This will be the first time in World Cup final history that a halftime show will be held.
BTS will share the spotlight with global pop icons Madonna and Shakira as co-headliners. The show will also be curated by Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin, raising even more excitement for the performance.
The halftime show is not only planned as a major global performance but also as a stage with a meaningful message.
It will help promote the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to expand education and sports access for children in underserved areas.
Through BigHit Music, BTS shared their thoughts, saying that it is a great honor to stand on such a meaningful stage with the whole world watching.
The group also said they believe music is a universal language that can deliver hope and unity, and that it is even more meaningful to support better education opportunities for children through this event.
BTS has had a close connection with Global Citizen over the years. The group appeared at Global Citizen Live in 2021, and Jungkook also performed at the Global Citizen Festival in 2023.
Jungkook also previously performed “Dreamers”, the official soundtrack for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, at the opening ceremony, showing BTS’s strong connection with the World Cup stage.
Meanwhile, BTS is currently heating up the United States through their world tour “ARIRANG”.
