BTS is once again proving their unmatched global power, as the group has now taken over Japan’s Oricon weekly charts while also continuing to dominate major music platforms around the world with their new album ‘ARIRANG.’

According to Oricon on March 25, BTS’s 5th full album ‘ARIRANG’ ranked No. 1 on all three of the chart company’s major weekly rankings dated March 30: the Weekly Combined Album Ranking, Weekly Album Ranking, and Weekly Digital Album Ranking. With that, BTS officially achieved a major triple crown on one of Japan’s most important music charts.

What is making the achievement even bigger is the record the album set on the Weekly Digital Album Ranking. ‘ARIRANG’ recorded 11,851 downloads in its first week, surpassing BTS’s own previous best of 11,396 downloads set by ‘BE’ in November 2020. The new mark is especially meaningful because it is reportedly the highest first week digital album download total ever recorded by any overseas artist in Oricon history.

BTS also extended another major record in the process, as this became the group’s 10th No. 1 on Oricon’s Weekly Digital Album Ranking, adding yet another historic milestone to their long list of achievements in Japan.

The group’s momentum is also exploding on global platforms. On Apple Music’s Global Top 100 chart dated March 24, BTS reportedly filled No. 1 through No. 5 with songs from ‘ARIRANG.’ The title track ‘SWIM’ led at No. 1, followed by ‘Body to Body’ at No. 2, ‘Hooligan’ at No. 3, ‘FYA’ at No. 4, and ‘NORMAL’ at No. 5.

The domination did not stop there. BTS also placed 12 songs inside the Top 20, including ‘Aliens’ at No. 7, ‘2.0’ at No. 8, ‘Like Animals’ at No. 11, ‘Merry Go Round’ at No. 12, ‘they don’t know ’bout us’ at No. 14, ‘Please’ at No. 17, and ‘One More Night’ at No. 20, showing just how strong the response has been to the full album.

Meanwhile, ‘SWIM’ has also been holding powerful momentum on Spotify, where it stayed No. 1 on the Daily Top Songs Global chart for 3 consecutive days from March 20 to 22.

Beyond music charts, BTS’s comeback is also continuing to make headlines for its huge live response. Their ‘BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG’ event, held in the Gwanghwamun Square area in Seoul on March 21, reportedly reached 18.4 million real time viewers on Netflix, while comeback related social media mentions were said to hit 2.62 billion.

After successfully wrapping up the ‘Spotify X BTS: SWIMSIDE’ collaboration event on March 24, BTS is now set to appear as a full group on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on March 26 and 27, marking their first full group appearance on the show in about 4 years and 8 months.
