ITZY’s Yuna is officially stepping into a new chapter, and the singer is already drawing attention for the honest way she described the pressure behind preparing her first solo album.

At a press conference on March 23 for the release of her first solo mini album Ice Cream, Yuna shared that the project pushed her in a completely different way compared to group promotions, especially because she had to carry every track with only her own voice.

She explained that the process was much harder than she first expected, saying, “I realized it was not easy to fill an entire song in many different ways using only my voice.”

She also revealed just how deeply she threw herself into the recording process, adding, “I thought about it a lot and studied a lot at home, and even in the recording studio, I kept worrying so much that I was practically grabbing my head.”

Yuna said that the difficult process ended up helping her discover a new side of herself. She shared, “I think that process helped me grow another step,” and added that she realized, “I’m this passionate of a person,” and “I really have a lot of ambition for this album.”

The ITZY member also made it clear that she wanted Ice Cream to fully reflect her own style. She described the album as something that captures her “bright and natural energy,” and said she put in a lot of effort to fill the solo release with her own color. Yuna also expressed hope that fans will enjoy the songs during spring, especially while driving or commuting.

One of the biggest moments from the event came when Yuna opened up about the support she received from JYP Entertainment founder and producer J.Y. Park while preparing for the album.

According to Yuna, she met J.Y. Park early in the process and told him she was working hard on the project. She recalled that he warmly told her, “Yuna, I’m looking forward to it. Don’t get hurt and finish it well,” and said his caring words left a strong impression on her.

Yuna also shared that the encouragement felt even more meaningful because J.Y. Park is someone who has watched her grow up for years, making the support feel especially warm and personal ahead of her long awaited solo debut.

Yuna’s first solo mini album Ice Cream includes four tracks in total, led by the title track “Ice Cream.”
