HYBE has released an official statement after BTS’s large scale comeback concert at Gwanghwamun, thanking the public for their support and understanding while also sharing condolences for those affected by the recent Daejeon fire accident.
On March 22, HYBE said, “We sincerely thank you for the warm support and consideration shown for BTS’s concert held yesterday at Gwanghwamun.”
The company also expressed gratitude to the authorities for allowing Gyeongbokgung Palace and Gwanghwamun, two of South Korea’s most symbolic landmarks, to be used as the venue for the special event.
HYBE called the location especially meaningful, saying it was honored to present a global performance in a place that represents South Korea’s history, identity, and modern culture.
The company also thanked the police, fire department, government officials, and local authorities who helped the event end safely, while also offering an apology to nearby residents, merchants, office workers, and visitors who may have experienced inconvenience due to traffic control, building access restrictions, and safety checks.
HYBE stated, “We sincerely feel sorry to everyone who experienced inconvenience in their daily schedules and routines because of this. Thanks to your generous understanding and consideration, we were able to create a meaningful moment.”
The company added that it plans to continue working harder to share the value of K-pop and K-culture globally, and said the concert also opened the door for future long term support plans related to the protection and promotion of national heritage and cultural assets.
In the same statement, HYBE also shared a message of sympathy regarding the Daejeon fire accident, saying, “We express our deep condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
BTS held ‘BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG’ at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21, marking the group’s first full group stage performance in about 3 years and 9 months.
According to HYBE, the crowd gathered around Gwanghwamun and City Hall Square was estimated at around 104,000 people.
With officials preparing for the possibility of as many as 260,000 attendees, the event was carried out under a major safety system involving around 4,800 police officers and about 4,000 crowd control staff.
With BTS’s long awaited return drawing massive attention and HYBE publicly acknowledging both the support and the inconvenience surrounding the event, the Gwanghwamun concert is continuing to be talked about as one of the group’s most significant comeback moments in years.
