Actor Ahn Bo Hyun shared his honest feelings about working with a rookie actor 14 years younger than him, expressing concern that harsh public talk could hurt the young star.
On February 11, following the conclusion of tvN’s Spring Fever, Ahn Bo Hyun spoke during a round interview in Seoul and opened up about his experience acting alongside SM Entertainment rookie Cho Jun Young, who was born in 2002.
Praising his junior, Ahn Bo Hyun said, “Jun Young absorbs things very well. It is not an easy thing to do, but he followed along very well. Not only on set, but also when I watched the broadcast, it was really good”.
However, he also admitted he felt protective. “It might be my own concern, but if there were parts that felt lacking in his acting and he became gossip among viewers, I think he would feel hurt. So I tried to help as much as I could within my limits”, he shared.
In Spring Fever, the two actors worked closely together, building on screen chemistry. Ahn Bo Hyun explained that filming could have been challenging for Cho Jun Young, especially because many senior cast members are from the Gyeongsang region and naturally speak in dialect.
“It must have been difficult for Jun Young”, Ahn Bo Hyun said. “Even if it is the same region, the tone is different. He probably felt confused”.
Because their characters shared a close and almost fatherly relationship, Ahn Bo Hyun believed it would feel more natural if Cho Jun Young followed his tone of speech. “We talked a lot with the director about that part”, he added.
Meanwhile, Spring Fever, based on a webtoon, wrapped up on the 10th with its highest rating of 5.7 percent among paid households, according to Nielsen Korea.
Ahn Bo Hyun received praise for his portrayal of Seon Jae Gyu, once again proving his strong presence in webtoon based dramas.
Through his candid comments, Ahn Bo Hyun showed not only his professionalism but also his thoughtful concern for a younger colleague stepping into the spotlight.
