NewJeans’ Hyein has shared a personal update about turning 19 and how she chose to celebrate one of her final birthdays as a teenager.
On August 22, Harper’s Bazaar Korea revealed Hyein as one of the cover stars for its September issue, marking a new magazine appearance from the NewJeans member.
Along with the cover photos, the magazine shared part of its interview with Hyein and asked how she has been spending her time lately.
Hyein replied, “I was a little shocked by the fact that I’m already 19, but this year’s birthday was really special! I finally did something I had always wanted to try — going to an amusement park while wearing a school uniform.”
She explained that she had never experienced that kind of outing with friends during her school years.
Hyein said, “My school days were very short, so I never had the chance to go to an amusement park with my friends. I went this time to celebrate my last birthday as a teenager.”
She also revealed the simple plan she already has in mind for when she turns 20.
Hyein shared, “When the day comes that I turn 20, the first thing I’m going to do is blow out candles and eat cake, as a way of celebrating my 20s.”
Harper’s Bazaar Korea described the shoot as capturing Hyein at a point between her teenage years and adulthood, while teasing additional moving covers and video content to come.
The appearance comes as NewJeans’ activities continue to draw attention amid changes surrounding the group and ADOR. According to recent reports, the members’ individual situations with the agency have not all followed the same path.
For Hyein, however, the latest interview focused on a much more personal milestone — enjoying a birthday experience she had missed during her school years and looking ahead to entering her 20s.
