Recent online claims that Jung Hae In was racially discriminated against by overseas stars are now being seen as a misunderstanding, as additional context and videos have surfaced.
The issue began after photos and short clips from a fashion event spread online, leading some netizens to accuse a foreign celebrity seated next to Jung Hae In of rude and discriminatory behavior.
A post on an online community later gained attention, explaining that the person in question was Benson Boone, a popular American singer.
The post stated, “The person sitting to Jung Hae In’s right is Benson Boone. He may look a bit impolite when talking, but calling him a racist feels extreme.”
The writer also pointed out that Benson Boone actually led an interview together with Jung Hae In at the event and added, “Even before becoming famous, he often came to Korea, worked here, and always showed his love for the country. I’m sharing this because he’s getting criticized for racism.”
The controversy came from a moment during a high end fashion show where Jung Hae In was seated between Benson Boone and Turkish actor Kerem Bürsin.
Photos showed the two foreign stars talking mostly to each other, which led some fans to feel that Jung Hae In was being ignored.
This sparked strong reactions online, with comments calling the situation “rude” and even labeling it as “racial discrimination.”
However, it was later revealed that Jung Hae In and Benson Boone shared a brief interview at the same fashion show.
In the video, Benson Boone complimented Jung Hae In, saying, “Your white suit looks great. How does it feel to attend the fashion show?” Jung Hae In responded with a smile, “I’m having a great time. My outfit concept is elegant and hot.”
The two were seen chatting comfortably, greeting each other, and maintaining a friendly mood, which many felt did not support claims of discrimination.
As this interaction resurfaced, more fans began to say the situation had been misunderstood, and that the controversy grew due to selective images and short clips taken out of context.
