SEVENTEEN shocks Japan as they become the top overseas group on Billboard Japan’s yearly singles chart

SEVENTEEN is proving once again why they are one of the strongest K-pop groups today, as they earn the highest ranking for any overseas artist on Billboard Japan’s yearly Top Singles Sales chart.

Billboard Japan released its 2025 year-end charts on December 5, and Seventeen grabbed an impressive 4th place with their 4th Japanese single Shohikegen (Expiration Date). This makes them the top-ranking non-Japanese act on the list, highlighting their massive presence in the Japanese music market.

Shohikegen already showed powerful results when it first came out, sweeping No. 1 across Oricon’s weekly charts and Billboard Japan’s weekly Top Singles Sales. The single has also passed 750,000 shipments, earning a Triple Platinum certification earlier this year.

SEVENTEEN also saw strong album success. Their 10th-anniversary full album HAPPY BURSTDAY ranked 32nd on the Hot Albums chart—marking the highest position for a K-pop boy group. On the Top Album Sales chart, the album entered at 7th place, adding to their solid results.

The group continued to shine across charts with multiple releases, including S Coups and Mingyu’s mini album HYPE VIBES and their 12th mini album SPILL THE FEELS, which also landed on the yearly ranking.

Their popularity was further proven as SEVENTEEN placed 41st on the Artist 100 and ranked high on Spotify Japan’s year-end lists, including 12th in Top Groups of 2025 Japan.

But one of the biggest highlights is their incredible concert power. In the Live Attendance Ranking 2025 announced by Japan’s Nikkei Entertainment, Seventeen placed 2nd overall, marking the highest position for any overseas artist. The magazine noted that the group has held this spot for two years in a row and continues to draw massive crowds across Japan.

SEVENTEEN’s impact in Japan grows stronger every year, showing that their music and performances continue to make a big splash in one of the world’s toughest music markets.
