LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin revealed the emotional story behind her debut, sharing that she gave up a college acceptance in the United States to follow her dream of becoming a singer.

In the latest episode of the web variety show Salon Drip aired on November 11, Huh Yunjin appeared alongside fellow member Kazuha and talked about the major life choice that changed everything for her.

Yunjin shared, “I was a trainee for about four years and went through four different debut teams, but none of them worked out. After that, I thought maybe I should try a different path.”

She explained that she eventually returned to the U.S. to be with her family and decided to focus on her studies.

“After two months, I got accepted into the university I really wanted to go to, and I even received a scholarship,” she said.

“I was so happy that I paid the tuition right away and told myself, ‘It’s time for the next step.’ But the very next day, I got a call from the company.”

That call turned out to be life-changing. Yunjin recalled, “They told me I was joining the debut team. I said, ‘Give me about a week to think about it’, but honestly, I already knew my answer.”

She added, “I had just paid the tuition, but getting that call right after felt like a sign. It felt like I was meant to become a singer.”

Fans praised Yunjin for her courage and passion, calling her decision a true “leap of faith” that led to her successful debut with LE SSERAFIM, one of today’s leading K-pop girl groups.
