Actress Shin Ye Eun opened up about her bond with Kim Da Mi and Heo Nam Joon after starring in the JTBC weekend drama “A Hundred Memories,” which wrapped up on October 19.

In the drama, Shin Ye Eun played Seo Jong Hee, a strong and loyal young woman who shares a deep friendship with Go Young Rye (played by Kim Da Mi) and a complicated first love with Han Jae Pil (played by Heo Nam Joon).

In an interview, Shin Ye Eun reflected on how her role — and her connection with Kim Da Mi — changed how she saw love and friendship.

She said, “When people used to ask me to choose between love and friendship, I always said love. But after filming A Hundred Memories and seeing Da Mi unnie’s warm eyes, I truly felt the kind of love that exists in friendship.”

She also spoke about the drama’s emotional ending, where the friendship between the two women was tested by love and jealousy. “Even though Young Rye and Jong Hee had moments of conflict because of Jae Pil, I never thought their friendship would break,” she explained. “Their bond only grew stronger as they went through different emotions.”

When told that fans wished Young Rye and Jong Hee would “ditch Jae Pil and just stay together,” Shin Ye Eun laughed, saying, “I think they’ll continue to do well. Their friendship won’t end. Jae Pil is just another precious friend. As long as Jong Hee has people who make her happy, that’s what matters most.”

Talking about Kim Da Mi, Shin Ye Eun couldn’t hide her admiration. “She’s such a warm person. When I’m with her, I feel relaxed — like I could take a nap beside her. She looks at people with no judgment, and that makes you open your heart. Acting with her made me express more emotions,” she shared.

She added, “There was a moment when I looked into her eyes while acting, and I thought, ‘She really is Young Rye.’ That’s when I truly felt like Jong Hee. We didn’t hang out often, but we built a quiet, deep connection. Our teamwork became stronger and more natural over time.”

When asked who was more introverted, Shin Ye Eun smiled and said, “Da Mi unnie is more introverted. But when I’m with her, I become introverted too. She’s so warm that you just match her calm energy.”

She also talked about her co-star Heo Nam Joon, saying, “He’s my senior from Sungkyunkwan University. I was nervous at first, but he’s so kind and humble that I quickly felt comfortable."

She added, "I thought there’d be distance because he’s my senior, but he was actually more careful than me, and that made me open up.”

Through A Hundred Memories, Shin Ye Eun not only delivered a heartfelt performance but also found a deeper understanding of friendship — one that left a lasting impression both on and off the screen.
