Starship Entertainment has announced stronger legal action to protect IVE, revealing that a person prosecuted for distributing false videos involving its artists has received a prison sentence.
On September 9, Starship Entertainment released an official statement explaining that it has continued monitoring online platforms and taking legal action against content it says violates the rights of its artists.
According to the agency, a defendant in one of the cases handled through its legal representatives was recently sentenced to imprisonment after being prosecuted for offenses related to distributing false video content about Starship artists.
The company stated, *“We responded firmly throughout the investigation and trial, and we will continue to pursue legal responsibility to the end under a zero tolerance policy for serious violations of our artists’ rights.”*
Starship also revealed that it filed additional legal complaints on September 9 regarding online content involving IVE member Jang Wonyoung.
The agency said it had collected evidence against certain YouTube channels, so called “cyber wreckers,” social media accounts, and online community users that it alleges repeatedly spread false or malicious content about Jang Wonyoung.
According to Starship, the latest complaints include cases where users allegedly posted or shared false information about Jang Wonyoung, distorted portions of recorded footage, or added claims that the agency says falsely portrayed her personality or behavior.
The company added that it is also gathering evidence involving accounts that continue reposting similar claims even after the relevant facts have been clarified.
Starship said, *“We will continue monitoring not only the original creators of malicious posts and content, but also accounts and channels that repeatedly post or distribute them, and we plan to take necessary civil and criminal action.”*
The agency further stated that anonymous accounts, users operating under pseudonyms, and those using overseas platforms may also face legal procedures where appropriate.
Starship concluded that it plans to continue taking legal action to protect IVE and its other artists and provide them with a safer environment for their activities.
