Actor Kim Woo Bin has spoken up about concerns raised ahead of the premiere of his new Netflix drama Genie, Make a Wish.
At the drama’s press conference on September 29, Kim Woo Bin addressed reactions from some viewers in Islamic communities after trailers showed his character, Genie, referring to himself as “Iblis”.
In Islamic tradition, Iblis is often linked to Satan, which led to cultural concerns from netizens.
Responding to the issue, Kim Woo Bin reassured fans by saying, “I believe if you watch the drama, these small misunderstandings will be cleared. I hope you stay with us until the final episode.”
Genie, Make a Wish is set to premiere on October 3 exclusively on Netflix.
