Actor Gong Myung has shared his honest thoughts on his acting journey and his dream of taking on darker roles.

On September 7, KBS 1TV’s movie talk show Life is a Movie will feature Gong Myung, who is returning to the big screen with his new film Secret Audit.

During the show, MC Lee Jae Sung shared a fun story, recalling, “When I went to interview for the movie Voice, the older women on set had hearts in their eyes. That showed Gong Myung’s real popularity as a handsome actor.” Gong Myung laughed shyly and replied, “Sorry, I don’t remember,” warming up the atmosphere.

Film critic Geouineopda then mentioned his first villain role in Square, saying, “It feels like you’re someone who doesn’t usually curse much.” Gong Myung replied with determination, “It’s not that I can’t curse, but I’ll try harder,” making the studio laugh.

He went on to share his strong wish: “I really want to try a villain role like the one senior actor Park Hae Il played in Memories of Murder.”

In Secret Audit, Gong Myung plays Yoon Seok, a high school student who transfers to Busan in 1998. He revealed, “Props like pagers, Walkmans, and payphones were all new to me, so it was fun and fresh. I studied the 1990s setting together with actress Shin Eun Soo.”

He added with confidence, “It will be a romance that feels fresh and youthful, like Architecture 101.” Critic Liner praised the project, saying, “It has the youthful romance vibe usually seen in Taiwanese films, but now Korean cinema is bringing it back. That’s very meaningful.”

Fans are now curious to see Gong Myung’s transformation, especially if he takes on the villain roles he’s dreaming of.
