It looks like fans may be getting a sequel to KPop Demon Hunters.
On August 26, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Sony Pictures confirmed it is in discussions with Netflix about producing a sequel to the blockbuster animated film.
KPop Demon Hunters follows KPop idols LUMI, MIRA, and JOY, who live double lives as superstars on stage and secret demon hunters saving the world. Since its release, the film ranked #1 worldwide on Netflix and even became the most-watched film in Netflix history.
The movie’s popularity also carried over to theaters. On August 23 and 24, it was screened in North America in a special sing-along format and went on to rank #1 at the North American box office, making history as the first Netflix film to ever achieve that feat.

Industry insiders say talks between Netflix and Sony are moving in a positive direction. While director Maggie Kang and staff members have already expressed interest in a sequel, official negotiations can only begin once contract details are finalized.
The deal between the two companies states that neither Netflix nor Sony can produce the sequel without the other, meaning both sides must agree before the project moves forward.
Fans are now watching closely as excitement builds for the possible continuation of KPop Demon Hunters.
