Netizens say they will skip live-action ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ without Jennie or Cha Eun Woo

Netflix’s hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters is getting attention all over the world, and some fans are wondering if it could be turned into a live-action movie.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter on August 6, Netflix has no plans to make a live-action version at the moment.

Back on July 31, TheWrap shared that Netflix had once considered different ideas to expand the franchise — including two animated sequels, a live-action remake, a TV series, and even a stage musical.

The thought of a live-action version has split fans into two sides. Some are excited about the possibility, but many are against it.

They believe it would be hard to recreate the animation’s colorful art style and energetic musical vibe in real life. Others worry that if the unique style is toned down, the original magic might disappear.

Another big challenge would be blending the fantasy concept with real-life K-pop in a natural way. On Korean online communities, some netizens even said, “If popular artists like Jennie, Cha Eun Woo, or V aren’t cast, it’s meaningless.”

For now, Netflix is focusing on expanding the animated universe instead of making it live action.
