BoA is known as a legend in K-pop, but even she isn’t safe from harsh comments. In a recent interview, she shared how online hate—caused by simple misunderstandings—has left her feeling sad and bitter.

On August 6, a new video was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Hyoyeon’s Level Up’, hosted by Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon.

During their honest talk, Hyoyeon asked BoA, “I heard that when we were promoting as Girls’ Generation, you said you wanted to try being in a group too?”

BoA smiled and admitted, “I was curious, but now I think I don’t really need to do it anymore.”

The conversation turned more serious when BoA brought up the project group GOT the beat, which includes BoA, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Seulgi, Wendy, Karina, and Winter.

“There are so many misunderstandings,” BoA said. “People think GOT the beat was created because of me. But that’s not true at all. Honestly, I didn’t want to do it. I kept avoiding it and even sent a message saying I really didn’t want to join.”

Despite not wanting to be part of it at first, BoA still received harsh criticism online.

“There were so many hate comments,” she shared. “It felt really bitter, because I still got hate even after doing it.”

BoA added that all she ever wanted was to show a strong performance. “I just wanted to show something good on stage, so I ended up getting really nervous,” she said.

Even with her long career and success, BoA’s story shows that misunderstandings and online negativity can still hurt—even the most seasoned idols.
