Actor Lee Jin Wook revealed something fans didn’t expect — he has an allergy to alcohol.
On August 2, the YouTube show Yoo Yeon Seok’s Weekend Yeon Seok Drama featured Lee Jin Wook and Jung Chae Yeon spending time with actor Yoo Yeon Seok. The two stars are currently working together on the drama Esquire.
During their chat, Lee Jin Wook shared, “I’ve never drunk alcohol in my life. It’s not because I quit drinking — I just can’t drink at all.”
He then told a funny but surprising story: “One time, I ate chocolate that had whiskey in it and I actually got drunk. My face turned red, and people laughed at me.” Co-star Jung Chae Yeon responded, “That’s such a surprising charm about you.”
But this isn’t just about low alcohol tolerance. Lee Jin Wook revealed it’s due to an actual alcohol allergy.
He explained, “I was really tired once and used one of those foot patches. Suddenly, my heart started racing and my face got red — it was because alcohol from the patch got absorbed through my feet.”
Even skincare is a problem. Yoo Yeon Seok asked, “What about skincare products?” Lee answered, “If I use the strong ones made for men, my skin turns red. At the hospital, when they rub me with alcohol swabs, the red mark stays in that exact shape. But no one believes me.”
Fans were shocked by the rare condition, but also impressed by how honestly he talked about it.
