BoA calls out online shop over possible fake toy gift for NCT Wish’s Sakuya

BoA is making headlines after publicly calling out an online store late at night over concerns that her recent purchase might be fake.

On August 1, the singer posted a series of Instagram Stories, showing off six colorful Labubu figures — collectible toys that are currently a global sensation. She captioned the photo, “There was no hidden one,” implying that she didn’t receive any rare or special edition in the set.

But things quickly took a turn.

BoA soon shared another post, suspiciously asking, “No way… is this fake?” She followed up with more messages, saying, “Even the tag sizes are different,” and “The colors are different too. So which one’s real?” She also pointed out one figure had “9 teeth but the QR code doesn’t work,” adding that she had planned to gift it to Sakuya of NCT Wish, but wouldn’t if it turned out to be fake. As many fans know, BoA helped produce NCT Wish, and her connection to the group made the moment even more meaningful.

Netizens quickly picked up on her posts, which spread across online communities and sparked mixed reactions:

  • “It actually looks very well made.”
  • “The more expensive the product, the better the fakes look. Lee Young Ji’s looked fake, but this one is convincing.”
  • “I heard newer ones don’t scan right away.”
  • “I got mine from the official store and the ears look exactly like BoA’s.”
  • “Maybe she really wanted to give it to NCT Wish.”
  • “That’s the renewed version — you need another app to check the QR code.”

Later, BoA revealed the seller’s name and called them out directly, saying, “If it’s fake, take responsibility!” Her firm words showed she wasn’t going to stay quiet if she had been scammed.

As of now, it’s still unclear whether the Labubu figures are real or fake, but one thing’s for sure — BoA is not one to be messed with.
