SHINee member Key opened up about a hurtful real-life moment that left a deep impression on him — and fans are feeling emotional.
On the August 1 episode of ENA’s variety show Salon de Dol: You Sure Talk A Lot (Prequel Episode 2), Key appeared alongside Girls’ Generation’s Hyo Yeon and BTOB’s Lee Chang Seop to talk about love, careers, and honest personal experiences.
During the show, Key shared a story from the past where he overheard a group of strangers gossiping about him while he was at a room bar.
“A long time ago, I was out with a friend just drinking and talking quietly,” he said. “In the next room, there were about four or five women in their 20s or 30s."

He added, "They started talking about variety shows and then mentioned I Live Alone. One of them said she liked me, but another person reacted strongly, and things escalated.”
He continued, “They ended up arguing about me. My friend and I were just sitting there, holding our breath. Then one of them said, ‘His tone is so rude.’"
He added, "It was painful to hear all of that so clearly, knowing they thought I wasn’t there. It made me realize how people can speak harshly when they think you’re not listening.”

Hyo Yeon reacted with sympathy, saying, “That’s really tough,” while Lee Chang Seop admitted, “I’ve never been through something like that.” Hyo Yeon then joked, “You should’ve cracked the door open a bit!”
Key laughed and added, “I seriously thought about it. They went on for about 40 minutes arguing about me.”
Despite the emotional story, fans can still look forward to something exciting — Key is making his solo comeback on August 11 with his 3rd full-length album HUNTER.
The album will feature 10 tracks in total, with HUNTER as the title song.
