Fans were surprised by EXID member Hani’s changed appearance, but she revealed there was a deep reason behind it.
On July 14, Hani appeared on the MBN healing show Oh Eun Young Stay, where she showed her natural, makeup-free face and dressed in simple, comfortable clothes.
In a past episode, many viewers didn’t recognize her because she used her real name, Ahn Hee Yeon, and looked quite different from her idol days.
Hani shared honestly, “It was a choice to let go of everything. I started working as a celebrity too early. When my contract ended, I realized I didn’t know anything about the real world. I felt like a frog stuck in a well. I couldn’t even answer the question, ‘Who am I?’”
That’s when she decided to step back and find herself. “I began practicing meditation and often went on temple stays with just a backpack,” she said.
Back in March, Hani posted from Dharamshala in northern India and said it was “a time to find myself,” reflecting on her journey of healing and self-discovery during a temple stay.
She continued, “Coming on Oh Eun Young Stay today feels like a declaration. I want to be brave enough now to be disliked. I want to stop worrying about what others think.”
Hani said she found comfort in Dr. Oh Eun Young’s words: “It’s okay to live like this.” She smiled as she added, “When I heard that, all my small doubts and worries just disappeared. I finally felt encouraged.”
Fans praised Hani for showing her true self and being open about her personal growth journey.
