Fans of BoA were left stunned and heartbroken after shocking hate-filled graffiti targeting the singer was spotted in multiple places around Seoul.
On June 10, several online communities reported that extreme messages cursing BoA appeared on billboard poles, electric boxes, building walls, and even bus stops — especially in the Gangnam area. The messages included highly offensive and defamatory phrases like “SM BoA AIDS” and “SM BoA Syphilis,” sparking public outrage.
One netizen shared, “I saw the graffiti between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. There were so many poles, and many of them were marked with hate words. It’s honestly disturbing.” Another added, “I saw it too on Yeoksam-daero. This can’t just be ignored.”

These messages weren’t limited to one place. Sightings poured in from all across busy areas of Seoul — including near Gangnam Station, alleyways, and major roads. Some online users claimed they had even seen the culprit — describing him as a middle-aged man with long hair, wearing ragged clothes, and repeatedly tagging offensive messages with celebrity names.
Fans were quick to respond. Several BoA fans took it upon themselves to scrub away the hateful graffiti late at night, hoping to protect the singer’s image. One fan shared, “I honestly want to stay here all night cleaning for her. I don’t even want BoA to see what was written.”

The incident was also reported to SM Entertainment’s fan protection system, Kwangya 119, as well as to the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), since some graffiti was found on KEPCO property. KEPCO later responded, saying the graffiti would be removed within a few days.
Netizens reacted strongly to the situation, commenting, “This is defamation and a serious crime,” “Please catch the person with CCTV,” and “Why would anyone do this to BoA?”
As of now, SM Entertainment has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
