G-Dragon is getting praised for his quick and clever move after a simple social media post sparked talk about politics.
On May 29, G-Dragon uploaded a selfie to his Instagram story with the caption "Off to L.A." The picture showed him sitting on a plane surrounded by blue lighting, giving off a calm, stylish vibe. But not long after, he posted another photo showing a dark sky with a red sun — and then deleted both posts.
While G-Dragon didn’t say anything political, netizens started speculating. Some thought the blue lighting might be linked to a certain political party in Korea, and guessed that the red sun photo was added to balance things out. This way, G-Dragon wouldn’t appear to be favoring any side.
The situation reminded fans of other recent controversies. Karina faced backlash for wearing a red jacket with the number 2 and using a rose emoji, which many took as a political message. Beenzino also caught heat for wearing red and calling it “World Red Underwear Day,” just days before voting began.
But G-Dragon's quick reaction seemed to avoid any bigger issues. Netizens commented things like, “As expected, he’s clever,” and “Smart move. Better not to get involved in politics.”
Meanwhile, early voting for the 21st presidential election in South Korea was held on May 29 and 30, and the main vote is set for June 3.
