Actress Kim Hye Eun shocked fans with a now-deleted post that seemed to criticize well-known writer Yoo Si Min, who also graduated from Seoul National University.
On May 31, Kim Hye Eun uploaded a photo to Instagram, showing herself wearing a bright pink hat and smiling with a friend. But what grabbed attention was the emotional message she wrote in the caption.
Kim, a vocal music graduate from Seoul National University, began with:
“I don’t think I’ve ever felt this ashamed of being an SNU graduate like I did these past two days. I want to say sorry on behalf of us.”
She continued,
“A person’s background or intelligence is proven through their sincere and tough life—not a piece of paper. That kind of pride means nothing.”
In what many believe was a response to Yoo Si Min’s recent comments, she added:
“Anyone who freely judges and belittles another person’s life with their tongue has the most shameful tongue.”
Kim Hye Eun also praised Seol Nan Young, the wife of conservative politician Kim Moon Soo, saying,
“As a woman who supported her husband’s dreams, took care of the family, and worked hard as a labor activist, I deeply respect women like her. I couldn’t have done it myself, so I admire her even more.”
She then mentioned other women she looked up to, like Kim Young Ok, and said:
“They’re not from fancy schools. They don’t belittle others who didn’t go to college like some arrogant, class-obsessed elites who brag about going to Seoul National University.”
She ended the message with a strong statement:
“As a woman living in this time, today is really painful because of some cheap and cruel words.”
Soon after posting, Kim deleted the message, but screenshots quickly spread online, sparking discussions.
This comes after Yoo Si Min appeared on Kim Eo Jun’s Dasboeida on May 28 and made controversial remarks about Seol Nan Young, calling her "unfit” to be the wife of a presidential candidate.
His words drew backlash from many viewers, who accused him of looking down on women, workers, people with less education, and older individuals.
While Kim Hye Eun didn’t mention Yoo Si Min by name, many netizens believe her post was a clear reaction to his comments.
Some praised her for speaking up, while others were surprised by how strongly she expressed her thoughts.
