• 'Weak Hero 2' takes over Netflix and sends webtoon sales skyrocketing 20 times

The hit drama Weak Hero 2 is taking over both streaming charts and fans’ hearts—and now it’s bringing massive attention back to the original Naver webtoon Weak Hero.

According to Netflix's Tudum Top 10 update on April 30, Weak Hero 2 pulled in a huge 6.1 million views (based on total watch time divided by full runtime) just three days after its release. It grabbed the #1 spot on the Global TOP 10 Non-English TV Series chart.

That’s not all—right after it dropped, the drama soared to the top of Korea’s TOP 10 Series and even made the TOP 10 charts in 63 countries, including Brazil, France, Mexico, Belgium, Morocco, Greece, Indonesia, and more.

This follows the success of Weak Hero 1, which previously ranked #8 and stayed on the global chart for five weeks straight.

With all eyes on the new season, fans are now rushing to read the original webtoon, leading to a massive jump in popularity.

The webtoon, which first started in May 2018 and wrapped up in November 2023, is famous for its intense storytelling and emotional depth.

It tells the story of Yeon Si Eun, a quiet and seemingly weak student who turns into a top fighter at a violent school—giving fans a unique and gripping coming-of-age story.

After Weak Hero Class 2 aired, many viewers started reading or re-reading the webtoon from beginning to end. As a result, sales of the webtoon have shot up more than 20 times compared to its average monthly sales after completion.

The series has also been turned into printed books, a mobile game, and even emojis, and has been exported to 9 countries, including North America.

When the first season of the drama premiered on Wavve in 2022, it held 45% of the platform’s total viewing share, proving its wide appeal.

Fans are now hoping for a new sequel season of the webtoon, and the franchise is being praised as a perfect example of how a strong original story can keep growing through great adaptations.

  • TWICE’s Sana confesses she and Momo secretly planned to fly home but couldn’t because of one shocking reason

TWICE's Sana shared a funny but honest story about the time she thought about secretly flying home with fellow member Momo.

On the May 20 episode of SBS’s variety show Whenever We Get a Chance, TWICE’s Jihyo and Sana appeared as special guests. The two idols brought laughter with their stories and bright energy.

Jihyo and Sana joined hosts Yoo Jae Seok and Yoo Yeon Seok as “gap friends” for the show. Jihyo mentioned seeing Yoo Jae Seok at concerts before, saying, “We always run into each other at concerts. You even go to other idols’ shows!” Yoo Jae Seok laughed, confirming, “That’s true.”

Yoo Yeon Seok revealed it was his first time meeting the two TWICE members. But Jihyo surprised him by saying, “I’ve actually seen you before. A long time ago at a birthday party.” Yoo Yeon Seok smiled and recalled, “Oh, Seulong’s birthday party, right?” Yoo Jae Seok joked, “Jihyo really knows everyone. She’s a social butterfly.”

When Yoo Yeon Seok asked how Sana got her start, she explained, “I was cast and got invited to audition. After the audition, the company called my parents and asked, ‘Would you let your daughter go to Korea?’ At first, they said yes. But once we got home, they were unsure and said, ‘Maybe you shouldn’t go.’”

Sana also talked about how she wasn’t close with Jihyo back then. “Jihyo was close to debuting and even had separate lessons,” she said. “I couldn’t really talk to her because I didn’t speak Korean well.” Jihyo agreed, saying, “We couldn’t even have a conversation in the beginning.”

Sana then shared a moment that made everyone laugh. “There was a time I thought about secretly going home at dawn,” she said. “I even thought about how to quietly pull my suitcase out. But the company had our passports. I would’ve had to break in and get them, so it didn’t work out. If I could have, I would’ve left. Momo and I planned to go together.”

Fans praised the idols for their honesty and humor, showing once again why TWICE is so loved by many.
