• Ahn Jae Hyun’s near-death experience left him with a burst lung – here’s how it led to his unexpected career change

Actor Ahn Jae Hyun has opened up about a life-changing traffic accident that left him fighting for his life and completely changed his future.

In a recent video released on April 2nd, Ahn Jae Hyun sat down with Kwak Bum on Lee Guk Joo’s official channel, where he revealed shocking details about the accident and how it influenced his career.

Ahn Jae Hyun shared that when he was younger, his dream was simply to be a "rich dad", saying, "I thought that as long as I could make money from a job, I didn’t care what I did." But things took a dramatic turn when he was just 20 years old.

"I had a traffic accident. I was sitting in the passenger seat of a taxi and was involved in a side-impact crash. Two of my ribs were broken, and when I woke up, I had a tube in me. My lung had burst," he recalled.

The accident left him in the hospital for six long months, and during that time, Ahn Jae Hyun had a lot of time to reflect. "I really objectified myself and thought, 'What do you want to do for a living?'" he said.

He realized that his looks might not be enough for a career in entertainment. "I thought I couldn’t be an actor or singer, but since I’m tall and my face is like this, maybe I could try being a model."

However, his model aspirations didn’t go as planned. "As soon as I was discharged, I went to a model academy. Out of 20 men, 10 were chosen, but I didn’t even pass the first round. Later, when I asked the staff, they said I looked old-fashioned."

Ahn Jae Hyun's story shows just how much a single moment can change your life, and how determination can push you toward unexpected paths.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
