• Pharrell Williams Lends His Magic to NewJeans’ Japanese Debut Single ‘Supernatural’

    Global pop sensation Pharrell Williams has lent his songwriting and composing talents to NewJeans’ much-anticipated Japanese debut single.

    As revealed by their agency ADOR on the 13th, Pharrell Williams has been credited for his contributions to NewJeans’ Japanese debut single ‘Supernatural’ and its eponymous title track.

    Supernatural’ is a melodious track that stirs up a sense of nostalgia, beautifully harmonizing with the emotive vocals of the NewJeans members.

    ADOR shed light on the song’s production process, stating, Pharrell Williams revisited his iconic ad-libs and bridge from his 2009 collaboration ‘Back of My Mind’ with Japanese singer Manami. Producer 250 has given it a fresh spin in a New Jack Swing style.”

    Pharrell Williams, renowned for his chart-topping hit ‘Happy’, is a multiple Grammy-winning global singer and producer.

    He also holds significant sway in the realm of popular culture with his active involvement as a fashion designer.

    NewJeans’ Japanese debut single ‘Supernatural’ is set to drop next month on the 21st. The single comprises the title track, another song titled ‘Right Now’, and instrumental versions of both tracks, totaling four tracks. ‘Right Now’ has already piqued interest when it was partially released on the 9th as a commercial song for the Lotte ZERO advertisement.

    In earlier announcements, NewJeans revealed collaborations with cultural and artistic luminaries such as Takashi Murakami and Hiroshi Fujiwara, setting high expectations for an unparalleled debut in Japan.

    The scale of their activities, including a fan meeting at the Tokyo Dome upon their Japanese debut, has garnered significant attention.

    Meanwhile, NewJeans is gearing up for a Korean comeback first on the 24th. The music video for ‘Bubble Gum’, a track from the pre-released double single ‘How Sweet’ last month, topped YouTube Korea’s weekly popular music video chart for two consecutive weeks and held a high position on the global weekly charts.

    This showcases NewJeans’ global influence and impact, even before the official release of the song.

    On May 16, Jin dropped his second mini album Echo, and the title track “Don’t Say You Love Me” is already making waves — especially because of the emotional scenes with actress Shin Se Kyung.

    The MV is shot like a drama, showing powerful yet soft acting between Jin and Shin Se Kyung. Their natural eye contact, emotional scenes, and quiet chemistry have left fans saying, “Are they a real couple?” and “Please cast them in a real drama next time!”

    But while their chemistry looked perfect on screen, Jin revealed that he was actually super nervous behind the scenes.

    Jin also shared a funny moment during filming: “There was one scene in a parking lot, and the wind was blowing like crazy. My hair kept flying everywhere, and I couldn’t act properly. We ended up changing my hairstyle to finish filming.”
