• Kwak Dong Yeon Looks Back on His Role in "Queen of Tears" as Drama Wraps Up

    Actor Kwak Dong Yeon recently took some time to reflect on his part in the tvN weekend series 'Queen of Tears' in a sit-down interview in Seoul.

    The drama revolves around the rollercoaster of love between Hong Hae In (played by Kim Ji Won), a third-gen heiress of a massive company, and Baek Hyun Woo (played by Kim Soo Hyun), the heir of a supermarket empire.

    In the show, Kwak Dong Yeon brings to life the character of Hong Soo Cheol, the younger sibling of Hong Hae In.

    Starting off with a carefree attitude, Soo Cheol gradually grows into a committed husband and stepdad to his wife Cheon Da Hye (played by Lee Joo Bin) and her son.

    Wrapping up the drama, Kwak Dong Yeon expressed his gratitude, saying, "This project was the longest I've ever been a part of. It was quite the journey."

    He gave a shoutout to the supportive crew and seasoned actors for making the experience enjoyable and leaving him with unforgettable moments.

    Talking about his character's depth, Kwak Dong Yeon shared, "Soo Cheol is a multi-layered guy. Despite his occasional goofiness, his love for his family always shines through."

    He revealed that he put thought into Soo Cheol's appearance, opting for a more traditional look that matched his character's personality.

    To get into character, Kwak Dong Yeon took cues from successful businessmen like Steve Jobs to give Soo Cheol a professional vibe.

    He even went the extra mile with his physical transformation, shedding some weight to authentically portray his character's emotional journey.

    With the final episode airing on April 28 KST, Kwak Dong Yeon's portrayal of Soo Cheol, peppered with comedic moments, played a significant role in the drama's success.

    Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

    On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

    During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

    He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

    The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

    “I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

    He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

    “In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

    Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
