• "Were these sponsored products?" — Seventeen faces criticism for fan gifts, netizens disappointed

Seventeen is facing criticism for the gifts they gave to their fans during their promotion period, as fans found them disappointing.

K-Pop idols often show their appreciation to fans with "tribute gifts." For instance, BTS's V received praise for his thoughtful gifts at his 'VICNIV' fan meeting event. V's presents included paw-shaped cookies and a personal note to his ARMY fans.

Other idols like Stray Kids, Sunmi, NCT 127, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and more have gifted fans with warm meals, sweet donuts, homemade cookies, and more.

However, Seventeen's fans were let down when they received two cans of kimchi. These kimchi cans were given to Seventeen for free by a popular kimchi brand in Korea as part of a promotional deal.

Hoshi from Seventeen shared a photo of the kimchi cans on his personal Instagram, and it seemed like he was proud of the free gift.

    Netizens expressed their disappointment:

"Were these sponsored products? If they didn't want to spend their own money, they could have at least made some rice balls for their fans. They could have pretended to make them themselves."

"With over 5 million album sales, giving canned kimchi to fans seems underwhelming. They could have made kimchi themselves."

"Hoshi doesn't seem to understand the situation."

"Hoshi appears too pleased with the free kimchi."

"Is this just a concept for them at this point? It's quite funny."

"This seems more like brand promotion than a tribute to the fans."

  • Kim Jaejoong's Kakao Pay account hacked — did he lose 1 trillion won in assets?

Kim Jaejoong, the famous singer and businessman, recently revealed that he was the victim of a hacking incident involving his Kakao Pay account, raising concerns about his financial safety.

On May 7, the star shared his experience with fans via the official fan platform From, explaining that his Kakao Pay account was hacked and the password was changed without his permission. As a result, Kim Jaejoong was locked out of his account and couldn’t access any of his information, which made the situation even more difficult to handle.

He expressed frustration over the customer service process, sharing that he had contacted support multiple times for help. Despite talking to a representative for over an hour, the issue wasn’t resolved. Kim Jaejoong pointed out a flaw in the system: “The hacker changed the password, so why do I, the victim, have to prove everything?”

He admitted, “I was mentally crushed” after realizing the lack of progress. While he acknowledged that the customer service staff was working hard, he couldn’t help but feel that the system was too weak to handle such incidents.
