The popular Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo is officially being adapted into a stage musical, four years after its successful television run in 2022.

The musical adaptation is scheduled to premiere on January 16, 2027, bringing the beloved story of attorney Woo Young Woo to audiences in a completely new format.

Originally aired on ENA in 2022, Extraordinary Attorney Woo starred Park Eun Bin as Woo Young Woo, a rookie lawyer on the autism spectrum who solves legal cases through her unique perspective and abilities.

The drama became one of South Korea's biggest television hits, setting a new ratings record for ENA and reaching No. 1 globally on Netflix. It also received international recognition, including nominations at the Critics Choice Awards and International Emmy Awards.

Now, the successful series is preparing to reach another audience through musical theater.

The upcoming production will be jointly developed by LIVE Corp., a Korean musical production company known for Fan Letter and Marie Curie, and Lotte Cultureworks, which secured the musical adaptation rights through an agreement with the original drama's production company, AStory.

According to the production team, the musical will preserve the original drama's heartwarming message about understanding differences and living together while introducing new storytelling elements through music and stage performances.

The production will feature orchestral music, visual effects, and creative stage designs to express Woo Young Woo's unique perspective.

LIVE Corp. CEO Kang Byung Won shared his hopes for the project, saying, "Extraordinary Attorney Woo resonated with viewers around the world through its story of understanding differences and living together."

He added, "We want to combine the warmth of the original drama with the emotions that only music and theater can deliver, creating a large-scale original musical that will be loved by audiences around the world."

The musical will feature a creative team including writers Kang Byung Won and Kim Ha Jin, composer Kim Hye Seong, director Kim Tae Hyung, and stage designer Oh Pil Young.

The project has also been selected for South Korea's 2026 Large-Scale Musical Pilot Performance Support Program, backed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Meanwhile, the original drama's popularity continues to expand internationally. A Japanese remake titled Extraordinary Attorney Minami recently premiered, further highlighting the story's appeal beyond South Korea.

The musical adaptation of Extraordinary Attorney Woo will run from January 16 to February 6, 2027, at Ticketlink 1975 Theater.

Casting details, ticket sales dates, and additional information will be announced later.
